Reconditioned gearboxes

Standard* Cars carry a 12 month or 12000 Mile warranty ,whichever is sooner. The warranty is non-transferrable.
The warranty coverage extends to UK mainland and in all cases: RTB ( Return to base ) when we supply a gearbox without fitting it at our premises we cannot warrant the fitting at third party garages nor will entertain warranty claims for incorrect fitting**

Gearbox Repairs

Standard* Cars: Parts replaced are covered for 12 months or 12000 miles, whichever is sooner. The warranty is non-transferrable.
The warranty coverage extends to UK mainland and in all cases: RTB ( Return to base ) when we supply a gearbox without fitting it at our premises we cannot warrant the fitting at third party garages nor will entertain warranty claims for incorrect fitting**

Commercials & Taxis

6 month or 6000 mile warranty , whichever is sooner. The warranty is non-transferrable.
The warranty coverage extends to UK mainland and in all cases: RTB ( Return to base ) when we supply a gearbox without fitting it at our premises we cannot warrant the fitting at third party garages nor will entertain warranty claims for incorrect fitting**

All gearboxes leave our premises without oil. National Gearboxes will recommend the oil to be used.

Standard* cars are defined as vehicles that have not been chipped or modified . Used on track, rally or time trials. Car that have excessively large wheels beyond which it left the factory with are non-warrantable.

Examples of incorrect fitting **

The most common is the fitter not putting oil in. Or damaging drive shaft seals during fitting, causing a leak which in turn may lead to the gearbox burning out. Please do call National Gearboxes if you need technical support or replacement seals. ( chargeable )

Ford transit RWD gearbox pulled into position out of alignment. Caused the front bearing to crack and subsequently burn out
VW’s not filled with any oil and driven away from third party garage. Caused the gearbox to burn out
Iveco fitted and left third party garage without oil. you guessed it, burnt out.
Gearboxes fitted with the incorrect grade of oil IE EP90 when it needs ATF Dexron II. can cause difficult selection or syncros will glaze -slip- crunch.
Gearboxes fitted back to an engine with a badly worn clutch can result in damage to hubs & synchro’s
Certain types of gearboxes need a retainer in the diff (rolled card will be found). While fitting to help retain the location of the planetary set. Removal prior to one drive shaft being securely located in the diff carrier can result in terminal damage. If the the car is driven or attempted to be driven once the planetary set is not located correctly.

In the event of most of the above a second replacement unit will cost the same again.
Putting clean oil in a burnt out gearbox won’t hide what has happened

Quotes are always available via email or over the phone. The price given can used at anytime within and up to a maximum of 30 days from issue.

Payment Details

National Gearboxes use Worldpay as it’s primary payment processor for credit & debit cards . When payments are processed on site or over the phone (CNP), National Gearboxes will not hold or store credit card details on site or remotely.

We do not charge additional fees for the majority of credit & debit cards including AMEX
Cash is accepted & cheques by prior arrangement within the the motor trade.
We do not accept Paypal
Payment by Bacs is available for direct transfer.
All payments should be made to “National Gearboxes Ltd”

All goods remain the property of National Gearboxes ltd ( Reconditioned Gearboxes Lowestoft)  until payment has cleared.

Surcharge on exchange units

There is a variable surcharge on all exchange gearboxes. It is implemented if need be and charged out at  the time of purchase. You will always be pre-informed of what this is prior to any sale & negotiation. Surcharges are refunded when the old core unit is returned and is in a repairable condition, we are fair! The surcharge is based on the current market rates for a similar repairable core unit.

Shipping

Shipping fees may be charged when you fall out of our free collection area ( Norfolk & suffolk). It is essential that any oil is drained and the gearbox is either palletised and covered in plastic, so no metal is showing,  or placed in a leakproof plastic container. Gearboxes that leak during transit can be removed by the third party carrier, which can cause severe delays in reaching their destination. The cut of time for same day collection using our freight carrier is 2pm ( UK Mainland ) excludes highlands & islands. Please assist the driver with loading.
